    • SC4 men's squad finishes ninth vs. community colleges at MSU Invitational

      Following three consecutive weekends of competition, the SC4 men’s and women’s cross-country runners will take a break.

      The first-year Skipper men’s squad finished ninth among the community colleges Friday, Sept. 16, at the Michigan State University Invitational in East Lansing.

      SC4 compiled a score of 988 at the meet.
       
      Marine City grad Blaik Haney paced the Skippers with a time of 31 minutes, 50.3 seconds (348th place). Austin Coha followed Haney across the finish line at 358th (32:23.6). Rounding out the top five finishers were Ryan Najor (No. 375, 33:12.9), Tyler Kreilter (No. 385, 34:27.8) and Dakota Trendy (No. 390, 34:47.3).

      In the women’s race, Meghan Sylvia came in 314th at 29:15.3. Caterina Gryspeerd and Katie Traver were No. 332 and No. 336 at 30:53.8 and 31:13.1, respectively.

      The Skippers ran Saturday, Sept. 10 at the Tommy Titan Invitational, which was hosted by the University of Detroit-Mercy.

      Najor was the first Skipper to finish in 100th place at 25:31.0. Haney came in 110th (26:33.7), while Coha was 111th (26:52.5). Kreitler was the fourth runner (No. 112, 28:15.9) and Jaryd Forbes was fifth (No. 115, 30:15.1).

      Sylvia recorded a time of 24:06.9 for 103rd place in the women’s race and Gryspeerd was 112th at 25:53.1.

      The Skippers return to action Friday, Sept. 30 at the Kirtland CC Invitational.
