SUMMARY:‘Blindspot’ book discussion
DESCRIPTION:The Office of Diversity\, Equity and Inclusion presents a virtual book discussion on Blindspot: Hidden Biases of Good People by Mahzarin R. Banaji and Anthony G. Greenwald. \n\n\n\nThe virtual Zoom discussion will be led by facilitators Dr. Leah Howell and Dr. Portia Watkins from 10 to 11:30 a.m. Friday\, Oct. 15. To reserve a spot and receive the link\, email dei@sc4.edu by Friday\, Oct. 8. \n\n\n\nThe reading explores hidden biases that we all carry from a lifetime of experiences with social groups — age\, gender\, race\, ethnicity\, religion\, social class\, sexuality\, disability status or nationality. \n\n\n\nThe discussion will provide a structured opportunity for individuals to reflect upon the reading\, including their own identities and biases\, and encourage shared dialogue in the reflection. An individualized overview will be developed and provided for the reading. \n\n\n\nReading the book is not a requirement to attend the session. For those wanting a hard copy of the book\, email dei@sc4.edu. An ebook version also is available\, off-campus users will be prompted to login using their SC4 Portal username and password. \n\n\n\nFor questions related to this event or DEI related topics\, email dei@sc4.edu.
