Two St. Clair County Community College faculty members were honored during SC4’s Student Recognition Ceremony Wednesday, April 12, with the Del James Blessinger Award for Teaching Excellence.
Winner of the Blessinger full-time faculty award was professor of practical nursing Kathryn Peace of Memphis. Winning the adjunct faculty award was early childhood education instructor Christine “Tina” Hudson of Marysville.
Peace has taught at SC4 since 1993. Hudson has taught at SC4 since 2015. Both were honored for excellence in the classroom, ability to inspire students and service to the college and community.
Stephen Saffee, Blessinger Foundation trustee, awarded the honors.
The award was established by the late Del James Blessinger in appreciation of an award he received while an SC4 student. SC4 students, faculty, staff and administrators can submit award nominations.
This is the Blessinger Foundation’s 29th anniversary. In the past 29 years, the foundation has awarded more than $575,000 to provide financial aid to SC4 students, financial support for the college’s Library and financial recognition of teaching excellence.
