Office of Diversity, Equity, and Inclusion

“Actions, not Words” symbolizes the powerful connection that WORDS matter in our community, but without consistency in ACTION on change, the words have no effect.

Quote from Dr. Martin Luther King, Jr. "In the end, we will remember not the words of our enemies, but the silence of our friends."

Purpose Statement

The Office of Diversity, Equity, and Inclusion serves as a hub at SC4 to advance access and support for all of us.

Purpose Description

The Office of Diversity, Equity, and Inclusion is committed to fostering an educational environment that will actively build a critical mass of inclusiveness both individually and as an institution; to act against racism, discrimination, and hatred. We will create a vibrant climate by constructively leveraging resources for real change at SC4 and our community.

Our Connection to SC4’s Strategic Priorities

  • Growth – The Office of DEI is part of growth by increasing understanding of systemic issues and assisting with improving the relevancy of the organization. Increasing participation in the Office’s activities will also support growth.
  • Sustainability – The Office of DEI is part of sustainability by changing systems for longevity. Advocating for a current and vibrant organization is future-focused.
  • Community – The Office of DEI is part of a community by supporting good organizational citizenship and connecting mutually beneficial collaborations with community organizations with shared interests.

“Intelligence is not enough.”

Dr. Martin Luther King, Jr.

Part of a statewide commitment to equity

In the summer of 2020, the presidents of all 28 public community colleges in the state of Michigan issued a statement on racial equity.

St. Clair County Community College, through the Office of Diversity, Equity, and Inclusion, confirms its commitment to this statement.
