The Fine Arts Building bustles with creative activ

The Fine Arts Building bustles with creative activity. It’s where you can act, draw, sing, graphic design, learn an instrument, attend a theatre show, and much more. The Sculpture by Tom Pyrzewski, placed in 2011, promotes a recycle message by using materials destined for landfills to create artwork resembling an organic life form. The building also has three galleries where you can find art shows throughout the year of student work, Beatrice Thornton elementary, middle and high school work, Patterns magazine art, faculty art and more.

Classes are continuing at SC4 as we wait for the time that we can offer shows in our galleries and in the Fine Arts Theatre again. #yourcommunityyourcollege

The Main Building is where it all started. On June

The Main Building is where it all started. On June 11, 1923, the Port Huron Area School District Board of Education approves Port Huron Junior College.

On Sept. 10, 1923, Port Huron Junior College opened its doors with 34 students, six faculty members and 16 classes offered. The college started by dividing the fourth-floor auditorium of the (then) high school into three classrooms.

Today the Main Building houses administrative offices, campus patrol, campus health clinic, and academic divisions in business and information technologies, and humanities. Fun fact: Did you know the fourth floor is only accessible on one side of the building? #yourcommunityyourcollege

As the leaves start to fall, the College Center is usually the hub of activity on campus. You’d find students gathering to talk, play games, study, eat lunch, or just hang out. Unfortunately, we can’t do most of those things right now, but the College Center is still the place to be! If you need tutoring, help with research, or a quiet study space, stop by. And you can still enjoy the falling leaves as you walk through campus. #yourcommunityyourcollege

This building houses enrollment services, financial aid, advising, testing center, marketing and communication offices, and our President’s Office. #yourcommunityyourcollege
