St. Clair County Community College Virtual Job Fair

St. Clair County Community College (SC4) is offering a Virtual Job Fair. It will allow employers to connect with job seekers who are actively seeking work in our area. This fair is in partnership with the Economic Development Alliance (EDA) of St. Clair County, City of Port Huron/McMorran, Macomb/St. Clair Michigan Works! and the Blue Water Area Chamber of Commerce.

Job seekers will be able to select 15-minute slots with employers of interest. We hope to offer this type of virtual job fair a few times this year.  It is set up as a three-week process.

  • Week 1 (July 29 to Aug. 7) – Employers enter their company information, contact information and available job openings.
  • Week 2 (Aug. 10 to 14) – Job Seekers review the list of job openings; selects day/time and enters their contact information.
  • Week 3 (Tuesday, Aug. 18, and Thursday, Aug. 20, from 9 a.m. to noon and 1 to 4 p.m.) – Event is held on Tuesday and Thursday.
  • On Monday and Wednesday of week 3, SC4 will send companies the scheduled list of job seekers and contact information for the following day.

A virtual job fair (online job fair) is an online event that takes place on a scheduled day and time in which employers and job seekers connect via the phone to discuss job openings.

Interested employers will add their company information and available open positions.

Job seekers will then look at the list of companies, positions, select a day/time and add their contact information.

SC4 will manage and finalize schedule.

The day prior to the event, SC4 will send employers a list of job seeker’s names, phone numbers and time slot information.

Visit for current information.

Employers and Job seekers can visit and click on the appropriate tab.

Job seekers can find resources at  Career Coach has resume tips, career assessment, and more.  See below for additional resources that are specific to phone interviews.

Students as well as alumni and community are invited to participate. So in short, everyone is invited to use it.

No, it is absolutely free. All employers and job seekers may attend the virtual job fair free of charge.

After the scheduled phone conversation, it is up to the employer on whether they ask the job seeker for a resume or schedule another meeting.

Just like an in-person job fair, the jobs available will vary depending on many factors.  Positions available could be full-time, part-time, entry-level positions or higher-level positions.

The job seeker will receive a confirmation email with date, time and company name.  Nothing further needs to be done. Please be ready to answer the phone in a professional, quiet place so that you can display your best self. If a conflict occurs, you can reschedule with 48-hour notice. Simply click on the “reschedule” or “cancel” from the confirmation email. We value everyone’s time and want to be respectful if a conflict occurs.

The employer should receive a confirmation email after completing the form.  At that point, there is nothing to do except keep the time slot(s) open and be available to call job seekers on the selected date/time. The day prior to the event, SC4 will email the employer a list of job seeker’s names, phone numbers and time slots. If a conflict occurs, please contact Debbie StaCruz so that we can alert job seekers.

No. This scheduled phone conversation is the first step in talking with a participating employer about open positions. During the discussion, it will be up to the employer to ask the job seeker for a resume and give instructions on where to send it.

You also have an option to create an account in SC4 Career Coach, it is available to assist you in job search skills, building resumes, identifying and working toward career goals, career assessment, finding suitable careers, or getting referrals to employers.
