Julianna Dobney needed more patient hours in her quest to become a doctor, and to fill them, a friend recommended she get her EMT license.
Two years later, getting her EMT license has proven to be more than just another step for Dobney.
“I found I really like it,” she said.
Dobney graduated from St. Clair County Community College in 2011, before transferring to the University of Michigan-Dearborn where she earned a bachelor’s degree in biology. She returned to SC4 in January of 2015 and earned her EMT certificate in May of 2015. She graduated from SC4’s paramedic program in 2016.
Now Dobney is a paramedic for Tri-Hospital EMS and the Marysville Fire Dept. She is also a cadet in Marysville, as she completes the St. Clair County Fire Academy.
“SC4 allowed me to get my hands on the equipment necessary for my job,” Dobney said. “The schooling gave me a base knowledge and confidence that I know what I’m doing. SC4 partners with Tri-Hospital and I was able to have clinicals in the field as well as the hospital.
“This allowed me to practice skill sets which are crucial to the job.”
