The institution completely revamped its workforce development program, now known as Professional Training Services with one goal in mind: To deliver high-quality instruction and training to employers and employees needing to improve their skills.

SOUTH PORTLAND, Maine— Southern Maine CC Head Men’s Basketball Coach and Director of Athletics Matt Richards has appointed AJ Burton, Brown City grad and former Skipper basketball player, to the position of Associate Head Coach effective this 2018-19 season.
In his first two seasons as an assistant, Burton helped the SeaWolves to a 41-18 mark, 23-7 in Yankee Small College Conference (YSCC) play. Men’s Basketball captured its third YSCC title in 2017 to make a United States Collegiate Athletic Association (USCAA) National Tournament appearance in the same year.
Coach Richards commented, “Coach Burton is so influential to the successes of this program. His engagement with our guys on and off the court has had such positive effects in developing team culture and academic achievement—this day-to-day in addition to off-season workouts, video breakdown, and practice planning. Associate Head Coach suits him well.”
In addition to his duties on the hardwood, Coach Burton works as an adjunct faculty member in the Sport Management degree program and also as game management staff in the fall and spring seasons.
PORT HURON – St. Clair County Community College today welcomes to campus occupational deans from 28 community colleges and universities across Michigan at its August 2018 Michigan Occupational Deans Administrative Council (MODAC) meeting.
The gathering takes place Aug. 9 and 10 at SC4 and throughout the community. It is aimed at addressing the future needs of Michigan’s workforce, employers and students by creating and improving partnerships, measuring success, improving curriculum and instructional development, and supporting professional development.
“We are pleased to host this year’s meeting and bring key occupational leaders in Michigan to our community,” said Chief Academic Officer Julie Armstrong. “This kind of strategic partnership among community colleges is key to having a greater impact on our workforce and economy in the years to come.”
MODAC meets five times per year to review Michigan occupational trends and workforce needs from a community college perspective in an effort to gain a better understanding of where community colleges fit in and how they might cohesively align to provide resources and fill gaps.
