More than 625 St. Clair County Community College students earn degrees, certificates
St. Clair County Community College’s 94th annual Commencement ceremony honored graduating students Friday, May 4 at McMorran Place Main Arena.
There were 628 students eligible to graduate. They earned degrees in numerous associate degree and certificate programs.
Students earned associate degrees in arts, science, general education, engineering, business, and applied arts and science.
Graduates included students from the Blue Water Middle College Academy and the Croswell-Lexington Early College.
These students take college classes in addition to their high school classes and graduate with both their high school diplomas and an associate degree from the college in five years.

College celebrates new edition of longest-running, student-led literary and arts magazine in Michigan
PORT HURON – St. Clair County Community College students recently were recognized for their role in publishing the 60th edition of Patterns magazine, Michigan’s oldest literary and arts publication aimed at showcasing student talent and works of art.
Patterns is completely designed, proofed and published by St. Clair County Community College students. Students Tara VanConant, Noah Muxlow and Sue Grenstiner comprised the design team, while students Tabitha Flitton and Breanna Sylvia served as clerical assistants. Faculty members Sarah Flatter and Jim Frank provided support to the students.
“By having the opportunity to help design this magazine, it has helped me grow professionally and challenged me creatively,” said Tara VanConant, sophomore winner of the Patrick Bourke Award and designer of Patterns. “I am grateful for the kind words and support of the faculty after the magazine was complete because it isn’t enough to just make the magazine, but to have someone recognize it is what makes it all worthwhile.”
Awards were given to students during an awards ceremony and reception on April 26, in the college’s Fine Arts Theatre.
