Explore STEM on March 7 at SC4’s 5th Annual STEM Fest

Port Huron, MI – St. Clair County Community College (SC4) will celebrate science, technology, engineering and mathematics on Saturday, March 7, 2026, with its 5th Annual STEM Fest.

STEM Fest offers a full day of hands-on exhibits focused on science, technology, engineering and mathematics, encouraging young innovators to explore STEM fields and discover the opportunities available at SC4. This free community event, thanks to many generous donors, will feature more than 150 unique exhibits and experiences across multiple campus buildings.

Event partners include Michigan Technological University’s Mind Trekkers, Cranbrook Institute of Science, The Reptarium, Saginaw Valley State University, Michigan State University and University of Michigan. Returning this year is Mad Science – Detroit, bringing back its crowd-favorite interactive science experiences.

Timed activities and featured programs include:

· SC4 – Planetarium Experience: Explore how ancient astronomers identified planets like Mercury, Venus, Mars, Jupiter and Saturn, and learn how they were observed among the stars.

· SC4 – Math Goes SPLAT!: Use a watermelon and the quadratic formula to calculate building heights in a fun, hands-on outdoor demonstration.

· Cranbrook – Weather, Climate & Our Planet: Gain a better understanding of weather and climate through live demonstrations that show how natural and human factors influence our planet.

· Cranbrook – Dinos Drawn Wrong: Discover how art has shaped—and sometimes distorted—our understanding of dinosaurs, and see how science evolves over time.

· Cranbrook – Webs, Wings & Crawling Things: Engage with live insects and arachnids to learn about their behavior, movement, and survival in their environments.

· Mad Science – Detroit – Up, Up, and Away: Explore air, pressure, and gases through dramatic demonstrations, including a hovercraft in action that makes science fun and memorable.

“STEM Fest is about sparking curiosity and showing students that science and technology are not just subjects in a classroom, they are pathways to exciting, meaningful careers,” said Sarah Rutallie, Chief of Staff at SC4. “By bringing together dynamic partners, hands-on experiences and real-world applications, we’re helping learners of all ages see themselves as future engineers, healthcare professionals, programmers and innovators.”

Participants must register for timed activities by Friday, March 6, while general event registration will remain open at www.sc4.edu/stem-fest . Concessions will be available for purchase in the SC4 Fieldhouse and College Center.
