St. Clair County Community College Board of Trustees Honors Professor Alan Collard with 2025 Distinguished Faculty Award

Port Huron, MI — The Board of Trustees of St. Clair County Community College (SC4) has formally recognized Alan Collard, professor of Computer Information Systems, as the recipient of the 2025 Distinguished Faculty Award. The resolution was approved on February 12, 2026.

Professor Collard has been a dedicated member of the SC4 community since 1994 and has served as a cornerstone of the Computer Information Systems program for more than three decades. Throughout his tenure, he has demonstrated an unwavering commitment to student achievement and academic excellence.

Colleagues and students describe Professor Collard as innovative, engaging, and deeply committed to student success. He is known for designing rigorous yet enjoyable classroom experiences that incorporate creative assignments and hands-on learning opportunities. His approach ensures students are well prepared for transfer, graduation, and successful entry into the workforce.

In addition to his teaching excellence, Professor Collard has strengthened the College through extensive service and leadership. As Occupational Coordinator, he has led curriculum development initiatives and advisory committees to keep programs aligned with industry needs. He has also served on the MAHE Executive Board, participated in negotiating teams, and contributed to the Curriculum Committee. A dedicated mentor, Professor Collard has supported new full-time faculty members by offering practical guidance and encouragement.

His service extends beyond campus through active participation on K-12 advisory committees, volunteer work in local schools, and involvement in community and civic activities. In these roles, he proudly represents SC4 and furthers the College’s mission throughout the region.

Through this resolution, the Board of Trustees, on behalf of the students, faculty, staff, administration, and the broader community, records its sincere appreciation and gratitude to Professor Collard for his devoted service, leadership, experience, and untiring efforts on behalf of the College.
