PORT HURON – St. Clair County Community College is pleased to offer Blue Water Area community members a wide range of camps, classes and personal enrichment opportunities for those looking to learn, enhance skills, pursue favorite past-times, or just try something new this summer.

The college will offer more than 30 unique opportunities beginning this month. Two people working on schoolwork in a math class

“These community education offerings allow us to provide instruction, skills development, entertainment and leisure-based options to our friends and neighbors,” said Dr. Deborah Snyder, SC4 president. “They are an important component of the college’s commitment to promoting lifelong learning in our community.”

Through the college’s School for the Arts program, community members can sing along with the SC4 Community Choir, play an instrument in the Symphonic Band, enroll in ceramics classes and sign up for private music lessons. Additionally, the college and Riverbank Theatre have joined forces this year to offer an elementary and middle school performing arts camp. Students in the camp will participate in acting, vocal and dance workshops as well as audition to perform in a live musical performance of Disney’s “101 Dalmatians” to conclude the week.

Those interested in science, technology, engineering, arts or mathematics (STEAM) can participate in classes ranging from drafting and design to music composition and from anatomy and physiology to robotics — and much in between.

Exercise and athletic opportunities abound as well. Students in grades 4-12 can participate in the college’s athletic camps. A variety of baseball, softball, basketball and volleyball camps are available. Community members can exercise at the college through partnership offerings with the Blue Water Area YMCA and via the SC4 Fieldhouse walking track.
