HESI Exams

Health Education Systems, Inc. (HESI) Admission Assessment is a part of the application process for several healthcare-related programs at St. Clair County Community College. The HESI exam must be taken by the specific program application deadline.

Registering for a HESI exam at SC4

The exam is offered on several dates prior to the application period for each healthcare program that requires it. When you register for your HESI exam on The Pier (SC4’s online payment system, you will need a debit or credit card) you will be able to select from the available test dates. Be sure to select the correct HESI exam, date, and time.

Please Note: HESI testers are eligible to “freeze” their HESI score for one year. The applicants must submit a written request to freeze HESI score to the Nursing Department. 

HESI preparation

As you prepare for the exam, here are some tips:

Sections of HESI exam (A2 Exam)

  • Personality Profile
  • Critical Thinking
  • Read Comprehension
  • Math
  • Grammar
  • Vocabulary
  • Anatomy & Physiology

You have 4.5 hours to complete (average time 2.5-3 hours) exam

On the Testing Day

  • Bring a current photo ID (driver’s license, state ID, etc.). If you don’t have a photo ID, you can’t test.
  • Registration starts 15 minutes before test. Testing instructions begin promptly at the time indicated.
  • No extra time for instructions will be allotted to testers who arrive and start late.

  • Electronic Devices
  • Backpacks/Book Bags/Bags
  • Purses/Wallets
  • Watches (any kind)/Fitness Bands
  • Food
  • Coats (any kind)
  • Scarves/Gloves/Mittens
  • Hats (any kind)

There are lockers available to you if needed.

Applicants who do not observe the above rules will be asked to leave the testing center.
