Title IX – Information and Reporting

What is Title IX?

Title IX is a federal law that prohibits discrimination on the basis of sex in any educational program or activity in educational institutions that receive federal funding. Unlawful discriminatory practices under Title IX include sexual harassment, sexual misconduct, sexual assault, stalking, dating violence, domestic violence, and retaliation. Title IX applies to all students, faculty, staff, or others affiliated with the College in the United States who are participating in, or attempting to participate in any college program or activity; and/or visiting the College’s campus or any property owned or leased by the College.

St. Clair County Community College is committed to maintaining a positive learning and working environment. The College prohibits discrimination on the basis of race, color, religion, national origin or ancestry, age, sex, marital status, height, weight, handicap or disability or any other criteria prohibited by law. The College will not tolerate acts of sexual misconduct or retaliation against any person who reports an incident, testifies, assists or participates in a proceeding, investigation or hearing relating to allegations of this nature.

Title IX Personnel Training Materials

Under Title IX regulations, training materials used for participants in the Title IX process, including the Title IX Coordinator, investigators, facilitators of informal resolutions, hearing officer, appeals officers, and other members of the Title IX team, must make the training materials available for review. Copyright/trademark protections apply as noted by the respective training partner.

Reporting a Title IX Concern

Any reports of sexual misconduct or sexual harassment should be promptly reported. Members of the College community who believe that a Title IX violation may have occurred should report their concerns to the college’s Title IX Coordinator:
