The men’s cross country team claimed its second invitational title Friday, Sept. 22, at the Commodore Invitational.
The event, which consisted of three squads, was held at Lorain County CC in Elyria, Ohio.
The Skippers managed 27 points. Brandon Hughes paced the winners with a second-place finish in 31 minutes, 15 seconds. Johnathon Ridley came in third at 31:45, while Josh Johnson was fourth at 32:19. Rounding out the team scoring was Remington Martin (seventh) and Jaryd Forbes (11th) at 36:24 and 44:49, respectively.
Audrey Sylvia ran 24:16 for the women’s team, which did not have enough runners for a team score. Cat Gryspeerd took 13th place (24:39.27) and Madison Woodall was 15th (26:04.6).
SC4 returns to action Friday, Sept. 29, with a MCCAA meet at Kirtland CC.
Volleyball
The Skippers evened their MCCAA Eastern Conference record at 1-1 with a 3-0 victory Thursday, Sept. 21, against Schoolcraft College at the Fieldhouse.
Coach Ray Cornwell’s squad (8-10) dropped a 3-1 decision Friday, Sept. 22, to Lansing CC in a nonconference match at home.
SC4 faces a busy week with a league match 7 p.m. Tuesday, Sept. 26, at Mott CC. The Skippers take on Macomb CC 7 p.m. Thursday, Sept. 28, in the SC4 Fieldhouse, before traveling to Grand Rapids Sept. 30 and Oct. 1 for the Raider Invitational.
