St. Clair County Community College is adding men’s and women’s bowling teams to its athletic offerings beginning in the 2017-18 academic year.
SC4 now sponsors 11 sports, as the two bowling teams join men’s and women’s cross country, volleyball, men’s and women’s basketball, wrestling, baseball, softball and men’s golf.
Six other Michigan Community College Athletic Association schools – Ancilla College, Kirtland CC, Mid Michigan CC, Muskegon CC, Schoolcraft College and Wayne County CCD – also have men’s and women’s bowling teams. Bowling is a winter sport for the National Junior College Athletic Association.
“Bowling is very popular in our area, and we have had some excellent teams and individuals at the high school level over the years,” SC4 Athletic Director Dale Vos said. “By adding these teams, we are providing an opportunity for those bowlers to continue their athletic careers at the collegiate level, and bringing more students into SC4.”
The coaching positions for both the men’s and women’s teams are posted online, and can be viewed by visiting www.sc4.edu/jobs.
Athletes interested in participating can contact the athletic office at (810) 989-5670.
