PORT HURON – St. Clair County Community College is pleased to announce a community trip to ArtPrize and the Frederik Meijer Gardens on Saturday, Sept. 22.
The $85 bus trip, which is open all area residents, includes round-trip transportation, entrance to Frederik Meijer Gardens, lunch, a tram ride, maps, prizes, a Movie-on-the-Move (“Maudie” starring Sally Hawkins and Ethan Hawke) and refreshments.
ArtPrize is an international competition in which artists from around the world participate. Art is exhibited throughout Grand Rapids in museums, parks, restaurants, hotels, bridges, storefronts, and even in the rivers. Visit artprize.org for more information.
Frederik Meijer Gardens & Sculpture Park promotes appreciation of gardens, sculptures and the arts. The trip will include the park’s annual exhibition of “Chrysanthemums and More!” – the largest exhibit in Michigan. Visit meijergardens.org for more information.
Seats are limited and registration is due by Tuesday, Sept. 11.
Itinerary:
- 7:45 a.m. Depart from SC4 College Center
- 11 a.m. Lunch at Taste of the Gardens Café at Meijer Gardens
- 12:30 p.m. Tour the park by tram ride
- 2 p.m. Return to bus
- 2:15 p.m. Arrive in Grand Rapids to explore ArtPrize venues and enjoy dinner on your own
- 6:15 p.m. Return to bus
- 6:30 p.m. Depart Grand Rapids
- 9:30 p.m. Approximate return to SC4
