PORT HURON – St. Clair County Community College is joining nearly 80 other local nonprofits for The Big Give, the Community Foundation of St. Clair County’s 24-hour donation rally on Tuesday, June 12, 2018.
The event is aimed at supporting the Blue Water Area community and its non-profit organizations, magnifying donated dollars through a bonus pool thanks to Community Foundation donors and partners.
Donors interested in making a gift to St. Clair County Community College via The Big Give can help support the college’s growing arts and athletics programs. Specifically, gifts can help fund new theatre seats and outdoor art on campus and/or new scoreboards for college softball and baseball programs at Pine Grove and Sanborn parks, respectively.
“We are pleased to partner with the City of Port Huron in raising funds to add new scoreboards to Pine Grove and Sanborn parks through The Big Give,” said Athletics Director Dale Vos. “Scoreboards, which are used by the Skippers softball and baseball teams as well as summer youth and recreation teams, are in need of an upgrade to include today’s standard features and functionality.”
Added Celeste Skalnek, director of College, Cultural and Alumni Relations, “We continue to offer more arts experiences on campus for our entire community. Funds through The Big Give will help us add outdoor sculptures and replace dated theatre seats.”
According to the Community Foundation, the past three giving events (2009, 2010, and 2014) leveraged a total of $1,108,000 for local nonprofits.
