St. Clair County Community College Men’s Soccer to Begin New Season in September

PORT HURON, Mich. – The St. Clair County Community College (SC4) men’s soccer team, under the direction of first-year head coach John Sikorski, is scheduled to begin its 2026-27 season on Friday, September 4. The Skippers have 15 contests on the docket for this season, including six within the friendly confines of SC4 Soccer Field at Morton Park.

This will be the third season of men’s soccer at SC4. The first two seasons were as successful as one could ask for. The Skippers went 10-3-2 in their inaugural season of 2024-25 and advanced all the way to the NJCAA Region 12 Tournament final round before falling 2-1 to Schoolcraft College. The squad’s efforts were even better in 2025-26, as the team recorded a 15-5-1 ledger and claimed its first NJCAA Region 12 Soccer Championship. SC4 avenged its loss to Schoolcraft in year one to grab a 1-0 victory in year two to obtain the regional crown.

SC4 then defeated Mercer County Community College on penalty kicks (3-1) to win the Northeast District Championship and advanced to the NJCAA DII Men’s Soccer Championship for the first time. The Skippers faced both Iowa Lakes Community College and Pima Community College at the national championship.

However, despite all the success from past years, this will be the first under Coach Sikorski. “I am incredibly excited for the upcoming season and the opportunity to lead this team in my first year as head coach at SC4,” Sikorski said. “We have a talented group of players, a lot of potential, and the chance to build something special together. I am looking forward to seeing this team grow, compete, and push each other every day. The future is exciting, and I cannot wait to see what we can accomplish together!”

SCHEDULE OUTLOOK

As mentioned previously, SC4 will commence its 2026-27 campaign with a trip to Illinois on September 4 and 5. The Skippers will battle with College of DuPage and College of Lake County, respectively, across those two days.

The home opener is scheduled for September 13 when Alpena Community College comes to Marysville. That will be the only home date for the squad the entire month of September. A four-match road swing to Schoolcraft College (September 16), Marian University Ancilla (September 19), Jackson College (September 23), and Owens Community College (September 30) finishes the first month of action.

After the lengthy road swing, the Skippers return to Marysville for a three-match home stand vs. Grand Rapids Community College (October 2), Lakeland Community College (October 6), and Muskegon Community College (October 10). Another three-match road trip follows, with stops to Cuyahoga Community College on October 12, Alpena on October 14, and Lake Michigan College on October 17.

The final two regular-season matches will be at home on October 21 and 24 against Schoolcraft and Jackson, respectively.

Should the Skippers advance to the regional tournament this season, it will once again be held at SC4 Soccer Field at Morton Park. Those three dates are October 27 (First Round), October 31 (Semifinals), and November 1 (Final).

ROSTER OUTLOOK

Of the nearly 20 student-athletes on the roster, just four (Andre Balta, Luis Carlos Farinas, Viktor Petrovic, and Christian Vazquez-Nimbu) were on the team a season ago. Farinas played in 17 games (14 starts) with four goals and two assists, while Vazquez-Nimbu saw action in 13 games with one goal tallied on November 1, 2025, vs. Muskegon.

Balta made six appearances off the bench, while Petrovic did the same in two matches against Owens and Prairie State College early last season.

Some notable incoming student-athletes include goalkeeper Jakob Arnold from Anchor Bay High School, who is one of the new faces in goal for the Skippers. Several have also made their way to Port Huron via international pathways, including Javier Ruspil (Canada), Marcos Gutiérrez Sánchez (Spain), Mykolas Gorbaciovas (Lithuania), Giorgio Cicero (Italy), Ansh Attri (Australia), and Carlos Fadul along with Samuel Fadul Estevez (Dominican Republic).
