PORT HURON, Mich. – The St. Clair County Community College (SC4) volleyball squad, under the direction of eighth-year head coach Michelle McCulloch, have solidified its season schedule for the 2026-27 campaign. The Skippers will play in 31 contests across their regular-season slate, which includes 13 matches inside the SC4 Fieldhouse.
SC4 will be looking to build off its successful 2025-26 season in which the Skippers went 28-9 overall and made an appearance at the NJCAA DII Women’s Volleyball Championship for the first time since 2004. The squad captured the Great Lakes District A Championship with a 3-0 victory over Schoolcraft College in Grand Rapids, Mich. SC4 will have a head start on surpassing those levels, as nine of the 12 student-athletes that saw time on the court last season are back in Port Huron for the new year.
“We are looking forward to the opportunity to compete against a talented schedule this fall and continuing to grow throughout the season,” said Head Coach McCulloch. “We have a fun and talented group with big goals, and we are excited to watch them compete on the floor together.”
SCHEDULE OUTLOOK
Following a trio of scrimmages – the Blue vs. Gold Scrimmage on August 12, the Wayne State Fall Scrimmage on August 15, and at Kellogg Community College on August 19 – the Skippers’ first official match will be against Neosho County Community College on August 21, as part of the Opening Weekend Tournament in Rockford, Ill. That contest will be a re-match of last season’s affair at the national championship, in which SC4 upset NCCC 3-2 in the opening round.
The other three matches at the OWT are vs. Pasco-Hernando State College on August 21 and a pair of contests on August 22 against St. Johns River State College and Calhoun Community College.
SC4 will host a quad on August 26 with Henry Ford College, Kirtland Community College and Kalamazoo Valley Community College to play the hosts, before travelling to North Central Michigan College on August 28 and 29 for the Buffalo Wild Wings & Corktown Pizza Timberwolves Quad. Opponents will be NCMC, Kellogg, and Alpena Community College.
The Skippers will play each of its conference foes twice during the season (one home and one away), starting with Oakland Community College at home on September 9. Other home dates for SC4 within its league are against Macomb Community College (September 16), Jackson College (October 5), Schoolcraft College (October 12), Mott Community College (October 19), and Henry Ford College (October 26). The squad will return the favor and visit those schools on September 14 (SC), September 21 (Mott), September 30 (HFC), October 7 (OCC), October 14 (MCC), October 28 (JC).
Other home matches for the Skippers include Lansing Community College and Alpena C.C. on September 19 as part of the first Skippers Tri-Meet, and two match-ups on October 24 against Kellogg C.C. and Montcalm Community College (second Skippers Tri-Meet).
SC4 will visit Delta College on September 4, before heading to Dowagiac, Mich., for the SMC Roadrunner Crossover on September 25 and 26. The Skippers will face Southwestern Michigan, McHenry County College, Lake Michigan College, and Mott C.C. that weekend.
ROSTER OUTLOOK
The volleyball program, as mentioned above, brings back nine student-athletes from last season. They include Brooklynn Haack, Bella McCamman, Ava Oleski, Ava Hill, Allie Guza, Addison Bolen, Kendra Kosal, Grace Ropes, and Krysta Basic. Five of those players (Haack, McCamman, Oleski, Hill, and Bolen) played in all 37 matches, while seven of the nine saw action in at least 70 sets.
Haack led the entire team with 64 service aces in 2025-26, while also recording 323 kills to be the top returning player in that category. SC4 returns its primary setter last season in Bolen, who tallied 1,107 assists for the Skippers a year ago.
SC4 will have plenty of defense at the net in 2025-26 with the return of Hill, as she was second on the team with 84 total blocks, 74 block assists, and 10 solo blocks on her ledger. McCamman recorded 428 digs in 2025-26 to lead all returners in that stat.
In addition to the nine returning student-athletes, McCulloch, along with assistant coaches Monica Freeman (fifth season) and Kacie Johnston (third season), bolstered the roster with five newcomers to make a total roster of 14. Outside hitter/opposite hitter Morgan Janowski (L’Anse Creuse North), middle hitter Chloe Johnson (Utica), opposite hitter/middle blocker Lucy Mercer (Otsego), setter Alianna Sutberry (Portland), and libero/defensive specialist Kylie Traver (Roscommon) will each look to make an impact on the squad in 2026-27.
