Be a Tourist in Your Own Town at St. Clair County Community College

PORT HURON – St. Clair County Community College is pleased to offer community members the opportunity to explore campus during Port Huron’s Be a Tourist in Your Own Town event on Saturday, June 2, 2018 from 10 a.m. to 4 p.m.

The event, which aims to raise awareness of the city’s history and attractions, offers free trolley and bus rides and features more than 15 stops around Port Huron.

“Be a Tourist in Your Own Town is a perfect family outing and a great way to see what is new at your local community college,” said Celeste Skalnek, director of College, Cultural and Alumni Relations. “After 95 years of service to our community, we are looking to the future while celebrating the past with our gallery exhibit of college history. Stop by to see the photo montage in the Fine Arts Gallery, climb the tower and do some hands-on projects at the science center.”

Stops at the college include:

SC4 Fieldhouse
Visitors can climb the 188 steps to the top of tower at the Fieldhouse for a beautiful scenic view of the city and the surrounding area.
  • The college’s 95th anniversary exhibit – “The Faces of SC4” showcases 19 murals in the Fine Arts Gallery, displaying more than 850 photographs of St. Clair County Community College students, alumni, faculty, staff and friends.
  • The Fieldhouse Tower – Visitors can climb the 188 steps to the top of tower at the Fieldhouse for a beautiful scenic view of the city and all its activities.
  • The Hands-On Science Center – Guests can explore the wonders of science at the Clara E. Mackenzie Building, which features an augmented reality sandbox, a towering display of mammoth bones discovered in Ubly, Mich., a fossil dig station and a host of other hands-on activities.

Golf Classic to benefit St. Clair County Community College athletes

PORT HURON – The St. Clair County Community College Athletic Department will host its annual Golf Classic on Friday, June 15, 2018, at the Port Huron Golf Club in Fort Gratiot Township, Mich. Participants will enjoy 18 holes of golf with friends to help support athletic scholarships and college athletics projects.
