Two St. Clair County Community College nursing students were recognized recently for providing “Very Excellent Care” during their time at McLaren Port Huron.
Jasmine Treat and Monica Martin went above and beyond their duties to help out on a recent clinical shift, providing verbal breastfeeding support, incision care, and helping with non-pharmacological comfort measures. They also volunteered to do an assessment and vital signs on another baby and mother when another registered nurse needed help.
“I cannot put into words how encouraging it is to know that I am already making a difference in people’s lives,” Martin said. “Us students are in this program to help others, not expecting or wanting anything more than happy, healthy clients. Although this program is challenging both physically and mentally, this recognition fuels me to keep going and to be the best future nurse I can be!”
