PORT HURON, Mich. — The Michigan Community College Athletic Association (MCCAA) released another round of weekly awards this afternoon, and St. Clair County Community College volleyball student-athlete Kylie Traver (Roscommon, Mich. / Roscommon) was named Eastern Conference Defensive Player of the Week by the league.
Traver put together an impressive week across the squad’s six matches at the Skippers Quad inside the SC4 Fieldhouse, and at the Timberwolves Quad up north in Petoskey, Mich. She began her run by totaling nine digs and seven service aces in the 3-0 win vs. Henry Ford College, before adding on a game-best 24 digs in the 3-1 victory against Kalamazoo Valley Community College. The freshman finished the home quad by tacking on 18 more digs to lead the team in SC4’s 3-0 triumph over Kirtland Community College.
The libero and defensive specialist started the NCMC Timberwolves Quad last Friday with 12 digs and five assists as the Skippers downed the host North Central Michigan program 3-1 inside Petoskey Plastics Arena. She then returned on Saturday morning against Kellogg Community College with nine digs and four aces, before concluding the week with 12 digs and two more services aces against Alpena Community College. SC4 swept both of those matches by 3-0 scores.
When it was all said and done, Traver managed 84 digs across six contests to average 14 per match. She also amassed 17 service aces (2.83 aces per match).
Traver and the rest of the SC4 volleyball squad will have a light week in the next seven days, as they will only have one match on the docket. That will be on the road at Delta College on Friday, September 4, at 7 p.m., from University Center, Mich.
