Academic Information:
- FERPA: Because of Federal privacy laws, including the Family Educational Rights and Privacy Act, your instructor and staff members at SC4 are unable to discuss anything related to your grade, performance in class, or any other issues with anyone other than you.
- Class Cancellation: Class cancellations are posted on the SC4 portal online daily.
- Student E-mail Accounts: Students are assigned an SC4 e-mail account upon applying to the College. SC4 uses email to communicate with all students taking classes for credit, including important information about billing, classes, deadlines, events, refunds, financial aid and registration.
- Student Help Desk: Students who need assistance with information technology call (810) 989-5858 or email helpdesk@sc4.edu.
- Getting Academic Help: If students are in need of academic help, they can contact their instructors or attend office hours. Contact information and office hours are typically found within the class syllabus. Students can also utilize tutoring services provided by the college – Tutoring – St. Clair County Community College (sc4.edu/tutoring), among utilizing other support services found on the SC4 website – Support services – St. Clair County Community College (sc4.edu).
Expectations:
- Class Attendance: Class attendance policies are established by each individual instructor and are presented to each student on the course syllabus within the first week of class. Students are expected to adhere to the policies and abide by any penalties imposed should they fail to do so.
- Appropriate Student Conduct: Students are expected to act responsibly and to conduct themselves in the classroom and on the campus in a manner that does not disrupt the learning process for professors, instructors, staff, or other students per the SC4 Student of Conduct policy. - Academic Dishonesty: Any form of cheating or plagiarism is not tolerated at SC4. Students are expected to submit work that is their own and to properly cite third-party works when referencing the works of others. Students can find the academic dishonesty policies at sc4.edu/consumer.
- College Course Content: College is a place where there is a free exchange of ideas, and exposure to ideas, those you may like and those you might not. This is at the very core of every college course a student takes. Students should note the ideas presented and discussed are at the discretion of the instructor in any given course, and for some students may require some adjustment or understanding on their part. Students are also encouraged to read the course descriptions of classes, prior to registration.
- Student Complaint Procedure: St. Clair County Community College takes student complaints seriously. If a student has a concern, they are encouraged to follow the student complaint process detailed at Consumer information – St. Clair County Community College (sc4.edu).
- Student Grade Appeal Procedure: If a student has a concern regarding a grade on an assignment, or a final grade in a course, they can follow the grade appeal process outlined at Consumer information – St. Clair County Community College (sc4.edu).
