It was a bit chilly, but Suzanne Doherty took her Geology 101 students outside Tuesday morning for a lesson on St. Clair County Community College’s campus.
They put down the books and had a chance to see some how some of the rocks they had been studying are used in the real world, specifically the limestone used in Clara E. Mackenzie, Main and North buildings.
Students examined the rocks, looking for identifiable characteristics, and took notes on what they saw.
They weren’t out for long, as the late October chill and wind put an early end to it. But it was yet another example of an SC4 professor going beyond the books.
