Gov. Rick Snyder signed House Bill 4323 on Friday, July 14, which includes support for a $10 million renovation of SC4’s A.J. Theisen Building, transforming it into a new health sciences training center.
The renovation will allow SC4 to expand enrollment capacity in nursing programs and grow the college’s paramedic, radiologic technology, medical assisting, and health information technology programs. The college is also exploring expansion opportunities for additional health-related occupational programs.
“We are grateful to State Senator Phil Pavlov and State Representatives Dan Lauwers, Shane Hernandez and Pamela Hornberger, as well as many community leaders and friends of the college, for their overwhelming support of this project,” said SC4 President Dr. Deborah Snyder.
Construction is expected to begin in 2018, with the new facility opening in 2019.
