Two SC4 students named to All-Michigan Academic Team

Kristy Jevens ans Tara Brown

A pair of St. Clair County Community College students earned statewide academic recognition this past March.

Kristy Jevens and Tara Brown were named to the All-SC4 Academic Team by a panel of SC4 faculty members, which automatically qualified both for the All-Michigan Team. They each earned a $500 scholarship from the SC4 Alumni Association, and were honored March 15 at a luncheon in Lansing.

Brown is a sophomore from Smith’s Creek who is studying business.

“The banquet was a great experience,” Brown said. “It was great to see some familiar faces from previous Phi Theta Kappa conventions. I could not have achieved it without our chapter advisor Angela (Heiden) and the rest of the members of our chapter. They always push me to be my best, and I am so honored that I got to be on the All-State team.”

Jevens, a third-year student from Port Huron, is enrolled in SC4’s 3+1 computer information systems program with Eastern Michigan.

“I feel honored to be nominated, but it really is a testament to the quality of professors at SC4, especially (CIS instructor) Colleen Forsgren who encouraged and supported my academic endeavors,” Jevens said. “In Lansing, it was humbling to be among such accomplished students.”
