SC4 freshman Justin Badley enjoyed an impressive debut in the NJCAA Bowling Nationals this past weekend in New York.
Badley, a Marysville graduate, finished sixth in the All-Events standings to earn All-American honors at Airport Lanes in Cheektowaga, N.Y. The top eight finishers received the honors.
Over 12 games of competition, Badley rolled a 2,338 total for a 194.8 average. He is the son of SC4 coach Scott Badley.
Joining the Badleys at the tournament was freshmen Brandon Saikowski, a Richmond grad, and Brandon Hughes of Sandusky. Saikowski took 49th with a 155.7 average and Hughes was 83rd (150.0).
Basketball
The SC4 women’s and men’s basketball teams ended regular-season play Wednesday, Feb. 28, with mixed results at Macomb CC.
The Skipper women (9-5, 13-13) dropped into a third-place tie in the MCCAA Eastern Conference with a 68-37 loss to league champion Macomb. The men (7-9, 17-11) earned a much-needed 71-60 victory.
Freshman McKenna Wolschleger, a Harbor Beach grad, paced the Skippers with 16 points and 14 rebounds. Emily Fleischmann, a freshman center from Reese, added seven points and nine rebounds.
The Skippers remain at home for the NJCAA District H Tournament. They collide with Delta College at 7 p.m. Tuesday, March 6, in the Fieldhouse. The semifinals and finals of the District 10 Tournament are Friday, March 9, and Saturday, March 10, in the SC4 Fieldhouse.
Ross Hinkley, a freshman guard from Marysville, sparked the Skippers against the Monarchs as he sank three 3-pointers and totaled 16 points. SC4 wiped out a seven-point halftime deficit with a 44-24 scoring advantage in the final 20 minutes of play.
Sophomore Jermaine Drake followed up Hinkley’s performance with 14 points. Quintin Johnson and Darrell Washington added 12 and 10 points, respectively.
SC4 returns to Macomb 7 p.m. Tuesday, March 6, for a District 10 quarterfinal showdown with the Monarchs. The semifinals and finals of the District 10 Tournament are Thursday, March 8, and Saturday, March 10, in the Fieldhouse.
