SC4 Women’s Basketball Qualifies for the National Tournament

The SC4 women’s basketball team has had a remarkable season, finishing with an impressive 27-5 overall record and a strong 11-3 conference performance.

The Skippers defeated Marian University’s Ancilla College from Indiana on Sunday, March 10, by a score of 79-55, winning the Great Lakes District A championship held at Mott Community College.

Throughout the district tournament, several players stood out and earned well-deserved recognition for their exceptional performances. Skippers sophomores Amanda Kitchen, Bailey Gormley and Precious Fields were all named to the All-Tournament Team, while freshman Bre Jefferson was honored as the tournament MVP. Head coach Mike Groulx also received the Great Lakes District A Coach of the Year Award.

This impressive victory has earned the Skippers a spot in the upcoming NJCAA DII Women’s Basketball National Tournament as one of the final 20 teams in the country. The tournament will take place March 17–22 in Joplin, Missouri.
