DANVILLE, Ill. – The winning streak continues for the St. Clair County Community College (SC4) Skippers men’s basketball team as they took down the Aztecs from Pima, Arizona 80-70 in front of a packed house at the NJCAA National Championship tournament in Danville, Illinois.
The Skippers trailed until the 5:00 mark of the second half, but finished strong to secure the win. A fierce defensive performance by the entire team held the high-scoring Aztecs to just 70 points, well below their season average of 103 points per game.
Leading all scorers was Isaiah Jones with 31 points. Tyler Hamilton and La’Tavius Vaughter both chipped in 14 points for the Skippers. Vaughhter led the team with 10 boards.
SC4 will play their final game in the National Championship tournament when they face Macomb County Community College on Saturday at 1 p.m. (ET). A win will give the Skippers a 7th place finish in the nation, the highest in the College’s more than 100-year history in men’s basketball.
