Skippers host Mott in matchup of nationally-ranked men’s basketball teams

Join in the excitement as 17th ranked St. Clair County Community College men’s basketball team clashes with 16th ranked Mott Community College on the court Wednesday, Jan. 17, in the SC4 Fieldhouse. Before the games, SC4 is hosting an indoor tailgate party inside the fieldhouse.

The party starts at 3 p.m. with tours of the tower and fieldhouse, games, food and refreshments and at 5:30 p.m. watch the women’s team tipoff against rival Mott Community College, with the men’s game following at 7:30 p.m. Fans are encouraged to participate in a trivia contest between quarters of the women’s game and at the half of the men’s game. There is a skill challenge during halftime of both games.

There is no cost for the tailgate party, and all fans will receive free admission into the games.

SC4 Skippers Men’s basketball team is ranked 17th out of the 118 National Junior College Athletic Association Division II teams across the country. The NJCAA, founded in 1938, is an association of community college and junior college athletic departments throughout the United States. The NJCAA is divided into three divisions and 24 regions.

The SC4 Fieldhouse also will be hosting the first round of the NJCAA basketball tournament for both men’s and women’s teams March 8 to 10. These tournaments bring 16 teams from throughout Michigan and Indiana and their fans to downtown Port Huron with the winning teams advancing on to play for a national championship.
